Endemic Baby Powder 2009

Contrary to (what is likely to become) popular belief, I am not a negligent parent. I am (for the most part) acutely aware of the whereabouts of my children and their activities. I will admit that I am sometimes busily tending to one child-- but what you are about to see simply shows my inability to be omnipresent... and Bailey's incredible aptitude for disaster. As I was busily cleaning up the kitchen, my first born decided to play with baby powder. This is what I found.... She was alone for 2 minutes... No lie!
This is the doorway to my bedroom....

My bathroom. Or what was left of it after "Endemic Baby Powder 2009"

Side of my bed... All over my pillows...

Her chair.

She looks frightened. I think it was my insane laughter...

My T.V. (Oh yeah, we rock it old school with our Nintendo!!)

My chair in the bathroom.

Bai started to help "clean up." She used water... Neat chemistry project. One that I wouldn't recommend using indoors...

Close up of her face....

Bathroom. Just a shot so you can take it all in... Take a few moments.... The panic will subside...

My bedside table.
But don't worry my friends, it only took about an hour and half to clean it up... And I have learned many lessons.
1- When Bailey is quiet- she is either sleeping or demolishing... Check to see which one, pronto!
2- Don't vacuum baby powder- you will get shocked.
3- Baby powder leaves a very pleasant scent when "sprinkled" on your floors....
I think I need a vacation...

Lucky Girls....

I was recently going through some of my favorite pictures and realized (not for the first time, mind you) how lucky the girls and I are. We've got both sets of grandparents just miles away, they love us AND they visit often! I just wanted to write a quick thank you to my awesome mom and dad and mom and dad- in -law. We wouldn't enjoy the weeks near as much without our grandmas and grandpas! Bailey absolutely adores both grandma's and asks if they are going to come play everyday. Bailey jumping with Grandma Shepard. Grandma gave Bailey that trampoline and spoils her rotten every chance she gets. Bailey loves spending time with her! (Don't know if grandma will like that I used this picture... Sorry...I think you look great in it...)

Kisses for Morgan. We love our Grandpa Shepard! He is the best one to snuggle with!

This is one of my favorite pictures!!! My mom is Bailey's best friend. Grandma is in Boston right now, and Bailey keeps asking when grandma is going to "get in the plane and fly home." Bailey prefers grandma over everyone else... Mom, I am so grateful to have you so close by. You have always been one of my best friends in the world- so having you be my daughters best friend is pure joy. I know why she loves you. You are amazing. We miss you and can't wait to see you!!!

Words can't express the love a little girl has for her daddy. I'm so blessed to have my dad in both mine and my girls lives. We love our grandpa Scovill to pieces! Thanks for always being there for us, dad. You are the world's best grandpa!!

I can't adequately express how blessed I am and grateful I feel to have these four people in my life and the lives of my girls... It is overwhelming at times. I hope they all know how much I love them... And the best part is, they love us back...

Nickelback Concert!

Back in December, for Brock's birthday, I got him tickets to see his favorite band-Nickleback. We went to the concert Thursday night, and it was awesome!! It was a much needed break, and it was nice to be able to spend time with my hubby... I think the best part was being able to see him enjoy his favorite bands playing... He was really in his element. I love being able to spend time with him, and especially enjoy making him happy! Happy Birthday, Brock! Hope you enjoyed our night as much as I did!! One of our t-shirts, and our tickets.... We had unbelievably good seats! We could almost smell the sweat!!

My excited, cute hubby before the concert.

The girls and I.
Me and my best bud, Bailey.

We were excited and forgot to get some pictures together. Ooops. We'll be getting some family pics soon.... So we'll post those then....

Easter 09'

We had an awesome Easter this year! We were able to go to church and remember what Easter is all about. I am grateful to be a member of the church. It gives me peace to know who I am, and why I am here...especially in this tumultuous world. I am grateful for the Savior and His sacrifice. It is good to know that the family I love so much will be with me for eternity!!
We were able to go to grandma and grandpa Shepard's after church for lunch and Easter festivities. Here are a couple pics of the girls on their egg hunt!

Bailey got the hang of it pretty quickly.

Look at all those eggs!

She got $13 and tons of candy!!

Morgan got to hunt, too.

Bailey and her Uncle Marcus.

The girls and I before we got ready for all the Easter fun!

Bailey in her Easter dress and Kachow shoes. Yes, this is what she wore to church...She wouldn't leave the house without them. And she didn't want to take any pictures either....

Momo.
We had an awesome day! Thanks to grandma and grandpa for spoiling us rotten! Hope everyone had an awesome Easter!

It starts...

Bailey did something yesterday that I naively thought would happen much later in her life. She came home from a walk with Grandma... and had 4 friends in tow! My mom said she saw them playing and told them to "come on to Bailey's house." And they came!! And had a great time!! I didn't think it would start this early-- but I should've known it would. Bailey's a social butterfly. Here's a few pictures of Bailey's fun day with the "kids." Introducing Bailey's friends: Madison, Casey, Paul and Cole.

Chance came over later... Here's an action shot. The boys ran around and played some sort of tag/ball tossing/base game (it had a lot of rules and regulations...) and the girls.....

Decided to have a tea party in Bai's playset.

Casey and Bailey coloring on the sidewalk.
They were over for a few hours and Bailey LOVED every second of it. A big thank you to Grandma, Madison, Casey, Paul, Cole and Chance. We had a great day and I am looking forward to more play dates. I love having my house filled with friends.

UNFAIR!!

When I was little, if and when I got sick, my mom was there...To check my temperature, give me juice, tell me which medicine to take when etc.... My mom was very nurturing and accommodating. Lets fast forward to present day. I am the mom (yep, still freaks me out when I say it....) If the girls get sick, I am there to take them to the doctor, care for them... all the stuff mom's do. Well, on Saturday- I got sick. My throat hurt, I had a cough, my nose was disgusting... ugh. And for the record, I don't mind being sick. I am usually a very self-sufficient and independent person...but this bug was a doozie. All I wanted to do was sit...and stare... unfortunately, that was not going to happen. Why???

Brock got sick, too.

And may I tell you the most disturbing part of this entire situation?!? I was MAD at him for getting sick. Oh yeah- you read that right! Infuriated. I wanted to be sick by myself. I wanted someone to take care of me... to let me sit and stare, get me juice, bring me my slippers...or whatever it is people do when they feel like boo-boo. But did I get that? Nope! I ended up having to take care of him... Brock is one of the kindest, most compassionate, giving people I know-- but when he is sick-- he is a HUGE baby. Oh, and this bug was awful...(see above mentioning of the severity of the illness and its side effects...i.e. "sitting" and "staring"...) Yeah, I spent my sickly days letting HIM sleep... making sure things were still put in the laundry, waking up early with the girls...

So...I am blogging to you, my friends, feeling slightly better after my weekend bug-- reeling with thoughts of resentment and guilt.... So I need to know that I am not the horrible wife and companion that I currently feel that I am. Because while we both feel moderately better... I just want to punch his lights out. He stole my sick days... Yeah, that's how I feel.... I need therapy....

(Writers note: Although I may sound irate and irrational, I love Brock and am glad he got better...but I am still mad about losing my sick days....what is wrong with me???)
The End.

While Daddy's away...

Brock has been having some residual pain since his hip surgery in August. It recently started to inhibit his mobility (again) and keep him from doing a lot of the activities he enjoys. We were about to call his surgeon and just schedule him for a replacement (yikes!!) but Brock's dad discovered an alternative route we could take. Mark's business partner knew of a chiropractor in San Antonio who had worked miracles on his wife's shoulder after her rotator cuff surgery. She regained full mobility and had no pain when she completed the treatments. We were super excited, so we called and made an appointment for Brock. He left Wednesday night and made the trek up there by himself-- leaving the girls and I home alone. The first treatment went well, and we are optimistic about what this Dr. can do- and I am looking forward to a couple of trips up to San Antonio! Sea World here we come!! Oh- and this is what the girls and I did while daddy was away.... And a huge thank you to Andi for coming to help out!! Cute shot of Morgan sleeping that morning...

Bailey and Eve... and their bows...

I got the girls dressed in matching dresses and we went outside to play. This is Bailey on her play set.

Close-up.

Morgan enjoyed being outside, too.

All smiles.

Cute girl playing peek-a-boo on the swing.

We missed Brock a lot, but we are so excited that he has found someone to help alleviate the pain. Keep us in your prayers as we work to fix his hips. He's a little young for hip replacement....
We'll keep you posted!
