Life with my girls...

My girls are growing up. Too quickly, for my taste... Wanted to document some of our recent activities... Morgan loves her big sister and wants to do EVERYTHING she does. She can't reach the pedals, but she has to ride bicycles with her sister.

Bailey on her bicycle.

Mo eating some pizza.

Sporting daddy's hat.

This is the bag that contained all the hair styling equipment we got Mo for Easter. She now uses the bag as a hat... Or a purse... But mostly a hat.

She loves that thing... And yes, that is a fox bum in the corner of the picture....

Walked in to see Bailey gently holding her little sister. So cute!!

Apparently it got old quickly. I came back into the room to find this...

As stated previously, Morgan likes to do everything Bailey does... So Morgan loves to color. Unfortunately, she likes to color her legs... Nice.

Morgan's new game. Peek -a -boo with the shower curtain...

There she is!!
Life with my girls is busy, hectic and amazing. Wouldn't change a thing... Well, I would like a little more sleep...

Taking Appointments....

Not to take away from my super awesome Easter post... but this video was too cute to leave out. Morgan is currently taking clients. Perm anyone?!?! Happy Easter!

Easter 'Egg'stravaganza!

I know, I know... The pictures are backwards.... Ugh...
Easter was amazing this year. Our first Easter celebration was on Saturday with Brock's parents. We ate pizza, got loads of goodies, hunted for and then decorated eggs. It was a lot of fun and the girls really enjoyed spending time with their grandparents and cousins. We spent Sunday at my parents house with the whole gang. We watched Conference, ate good food, and hunted for eggs and Easter baskets. Spending time with family has always meant a lot to me. It was great being able to see our families and celebrate Easter. Brock and I were able to go to the temple with Nathan on Friday. The entire weekend enabled me to reflect on what is really important. I am grateful for our Savior and the atonement. I am grateful to be a member of the church. I know that the Savior lives and loves us. I love Conference and am so glad I got to hear from and be inspired by our Prophet. It was a great weekend. Here are a few pics... Morgan loves to play with my make-up, blow dryer, brushes etc... We got her a set of her own. She is in heaven... And so am I!

Bailey with her train set. She is totally into Thomas right now...

Kiddos after the egg hunt. Love this picture!

Morgan hunting eggs at Grandma's house.

She was really into it... and actually really good...

Bailey.

Good times.

Morgan at Grandma Shepard's house.

The boys.

All the Easter goodies.

They were excited. Can ya tell?

Mo.

I am admittedly not the best photographer. I got some super awesome butt shots, though...

Cute girl.

Before the egg hunt.
We had an awesome weekend. Going to the temple was a peaceful, much needed break from the loud, crazy world, Conference was amazing, and spending time with our families was perfect. Happy Easter everyone!!

The zoo and other happenings...

A few weeks ago, Marcus and Blake came over. We all know I have a pension for photography as well as some pretty impressive skills- so I thought I would share some of the amazing photos I took while they were there. You're welcome.
He He. Sorry, Marcus...

Nice, right? If anyone needs a photographer for their next family picture, let me know. My schedule is pretty open...

Now on to the zoo trip... It was Morgan's first time! Brock was able to get off of work, so the entire Scovill, Ostler, Shepard crew headed out together. It was a beautiful day and we had an awesome time. Here, Morgan bypassed the live animals to admire the tree stump...

Daddy and Mo. Two of my greatest gifts in life.

My Bai and Nate. Cannot express how much I love these two.

Bailey LOVES trains. Can you tell? I told her we were going to ride the train at the zoo and that was all she talked about the rest of the morning.

Morgan wasn't super impressed with the live animals. She preferred the stuffed ones. Shout out to Logan for letting her love on his beloved Willy. You rock, Logan!!

Love this one!!

Diva.

This picture sums up the relationship between Logan and Bailey. They walked like this almost the entire day. We had an amazing day at the zoo. Spending time with my family has always been one of my favorite things.

For your entertainment....

Bailey loves Spongebob. She also loves to dance. Here, the two worlds collide in perfect harmony.

Bailey also loves to sing. This beauty is titled: "The Christmas Tree says Ruff Ruff." Don't be concerned if you don't understand anything beyond that... The song is a mixture of jibberish and fragmented sentences. Life is good around here! Love my silly little girl!

It's Official...

So I was doing my 3rd load of laundry the other morning (one of my most dreaded tasks) and while sorting and folding and wishing I was in Hawaii- I found a sock that had been missing its pair for a few days. When I went into Bailey's room to reunite the two- I felt like a detective solving his most elusive case. I was actually giddy that I had been able to locate a sock! And reunite it!! I almost called my husband...
It was in that moment I realized- I am a mom.... (And I have been a mom for over 3 years...) In the small amount of time I have been raising my kids and making a home, I have recognized some special traits, characteristics, and qualities that set moms apart from other professions. And I came to the realization sorting socks...
I think these confessions might qualify me as someone who has a lot of time on her hands... Or maybe just someone who needs to have more adult conversations... In any case, I became acutely aware of all the ways a mom stands out from the crowd. I hope all you other moms out there appreciate this. And yes, I do need to get out more...
You know you're a mom when....
  • You have discussions about bodily secretions daily and without disdain. You talk to your spouse, friends, doctors and strangers. You can discuss it at dinner. You can discuss it at church. You worry about consistency, smell, texture, size, color, lack of, overabundance of... It is thought about even if it isn't discussed. And its all normal, cause you're a mom.
  • You will walk into a room and see clothes littering the floor. You will know that all of these clothes cannot possibly be dirty. To sort out the clean from the dirty- you will simply stick them up your nose. This is not safe to do when smelling your husbands gym shorts- or underwear... but we all do it still. Why? Cause we're moms and it is the most direct approach to verifying cleanliness. We've got tons of things to do... Time is precious.
  • When you walk into a store or home or mall and can visibly see that a person is sick- you steer you and your family as far away from that person as humanly possible. No one wants to get sick. No one wants to touch or be near the sicko. When you're a mom and your kid gets sick- you can't stay away from them. You are constantly checking them, kissing on them and cuddling them. You don't care if you catch what they have... they're your baby. They always will be.
  • Little things make you so proud it hurts. When I worked- a raise, a comment from a peer, or a happy patient made me feel good about who I was. It made me feel valued. When I was at school, I loved making A's, being on the dean's list, having a paper read aloud to the class. Now, I couldn't be more proud of my little girls. I swell with pride when Bailey says a prayer, puts on her shoes by herself or gives her sister a kiss without solicitation. My girls make me feel like I am successful.
  • I wear yoga pants almost everyday. No, I do not do yoga. I wear them because they are comfortable. I also wear t-shirts and hoodies. Everyday. If I am dressing up- I wear jeans. Sorry babe...
  • Make-up is not a necessity . Zit cream, however, is.
  • When moms get birthday money, Christmas money, lottery winnings, we excitedly go out and get a new outfit, or get our hair done, or find something special just for us. Sometimes, we are successful at truly spending some time on us, and getting something we really love. Other times, and more often then not, we will spend every cent on our kids... and feel just as happy about it.
  • I have not slept through the night in over three years. I don't think I will ever sleep peacefully again....
  • I have weekly play dates. My husband always comes home and asks me if I had "fun." While I LOVE being able to have my friends over, and while we are sometimes able to have some form of adult conversation, I usually spend the entire play date running after my child... or cleaning up a mess they made, or making sure they don't sit on the other children... It is in those moments I wonder when my social life started to revolve around my child?!?
  • When a child, and not even necessarily my own child, spits something out of his/her mouth- I instinctively stick my hand out to catch it. Who does that?
  • I use saliva to clean my child's face.

These are only a few of the ways I have seen my life evolve into motherhood. I am so grateful to be a mom. I love the way my life has transformed and developed. I love my girls. I love my husband. While I only catch glimpses of the woman I used to be- I wouldn't change a second of the transformation. The woman I am now is more refined, more aware, a little more selfless. Thank you mom for raising me right. I wouldn't be a good mama without your guidance. And thanks to all you moms out there that inspire me and help get me through the rough spots. Motherhood is tough, but SO worth it!

Morgan's birthday and other news...

I am not arrogant enough to think that what I am about to share is more important then my daughter's first birthday... I just uploaded the pictures backwards... again. Brock and I ran the Houston half-marathon on January 17th. My mom and dad ran with us and coached us through, while Paul and Veronique smoked us!! It was a fun race and we finished strong. I am running another half in March and Brock and I will be running a 10k in a few weeks. The only picture we got was of Bai with our medal. Trust me... this is MUCH better then any shots of Brock and I.
Morgan in her new jacket.

I love her face in this one!!

She liked opening gifts.

Super spoiled!

She loved the cupcake!!

Yum...

Super weird seeing the pictures in reverse order.... This was obviously taken before she knew she loved cupcakes...

Happy first birthday Mo!!!
Thanks to everyone for helping us celebrate our little girl! I will keep everyone updated on our runs!!
