Merry Christmas!!!

Bailey, Brock and I were very spoiled this year! We got to enjoy some of our favorite family traditions, give and receive lots of goodies, spend time with loved ones, and remember what the Christmas season is all about. Brock and I were extremely blessed this year. We had a healthy, happy family, a successful and quick recovery from surgery, we are about to have a new little girl join our family, we moved into a new home, and Brock has a great and rewarding job. We cannot be grateful enough for all that we have. I love Christmas. It gives me time, like Thanksgiving, to reflect on what I have, and the blessings I have received due to the birth of our Savior, his sacrifice and the atonement. I am amazed by what He has done for us, and hope I can always remember how I feel this time of year.... Buggy with some of her presents Christmas morning.
The best gift...her kitchen!! Doesn't the face say it all? She spent hours in there.....
Bai and her Eve doll. I had to get a pic of her pajamas...A Scovill family tradition. She still won't take her "kachow" shoes off....
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Love you!

Lazy Day

We must have had a really busy weekend. It is almost 10am on Monday morning, and I am the only one awake... (Brock has the day off...) Look at these two. I am the luckiest woman in the world.
Oh, and Bailey does not sleep with us on a regular basis. Brock had to go up to the office last night to get some homework sent in, and I don't like being alone that late at night... Yes, I use my child as a shield.. shun me.....

I get it now....

I had a horrifying and (gulp) slightly amusing realization today. While busily snapping shots of Bailey's morning attire, giggling to myself about how silly she was...(all the while knowing that these days would be gone too quickly, and she would soon be very conscious of what she was wearing and how she looked.... ) I had an awful realization. Bailey is acutely aware of her surroundings. She pays very close attention to those around her, and what they do, say, act... It was in that moment, I realized where Bailey gets her fantastic (and I use that term loosely) fashion sense.....

Bailey's outfit of choice.

Mommy's outfit of choice....

It was ME!!! And yes people, I did wear this out in public today!!! The shirt says "I think I look awesome," and I think that is the ultimate moral I learned today. I don't spend a lot of time worrying about what I wear or who I am going to impress and Bailey has (apparently) picked up that sentiment as well. I guess I could be embarrassed, but in all honesty... I think we look awesome, too.

Christmas Decor

While I will admit to being a novice at interior design, I LOVE decorating the house for Christmas. Brock, Bailey and I got the tree up and decorated yesterday and I am excited to show the result of our efforts. I might not be Martha Stewart, but we think it turned out pretty well. Hope everyone is enjoying the season as much as we are!

Happy Birthday Babe!

Today is Brock's 26th birthday! It is an exciting time of year, and I am grateful I get to spend it with him. He is the best dad and husband a girl could ask for. Thank you for honoring your priesthood duties, for being such an honest, hard worker, for being such a trustworthy and respectful companion, and for loving and taking care of Bailey and I. You are the most amazing man, and we are so blessed to have you in our lives!! Happy Birthday, Brock! I love you more than you know.

Houston, we have a problem....

My favorite time of year has (up until today) been fall and winter. I love the cooler climate, the holidays it includes and the lack of humidity. However, this year the weather here in Houston is making me a little crazy. I woke up yesterday to a 76 degree, rainy day. What did we wake up to this morning? 44 degrees!!! How am I supposed to keep up with these changes? I have my AC on in the morning and my heat on at night. Its making me slightly schizophrenic. To add insult to injury, Bailey got a cold. Of course I do not blame my parenting style or even consider it to be a fluke incident that happens to all children. I blame the weather...because I can. And I am well aware that I can watch the news. It doesn't change the fact that the weather around here is ever changing. Ugh.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had Thanksgiving at our house this year. Brock and I decided to (attempt to) fry a turkey, and no one else wanted us to burn their house down, so.... It all worked out in the end. There was a lot of delicious food, everyone pitched in, and I think it turned out really well. I love being able to spend time with my family! They are one of the many things I am most grateful for this time of year. So, thanks guys for spending the day with us! I wouldnt have wanted it any other way!
I thought the best way to sum up our Thanksgiving activites would be in pictures. (Please ignore the wonder gut in the background of picture 1... I have a good excuse...) Eating was the highlight of the day.... She couldnt seem to get enough....

I think she liked it....

I wasn't able to capture any other moments, which is unfortunate. But, we had a great day and hope everyone else did too!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Diva....

Bailey has recently discovered the joys of dressing herself. She wakes up every morning with a new favorite clothing item and accessory. Luckily, these adventures in design take place before our morning shower and daily activities. (Hopefully this helps explain the hair...) Here is a week in the life of Bailey Rion Shepard...my little diva.

Her favorite tinker bell shirt and her "charlie" dog.

Getting tired of mommy taking her picture every morning.

Yes, that is a plunger in the background. It was her accessory that day....

Enough said.

I love this little girl. She is full of suprises and so fun to be around. Thanks for picking me, Bai.

Spoiled!!!

One of the things Brock and I love most about our neighborhood is the number of kids constantly playing outside. However, it is now one of the most expensive things about our neighborhood as well. Let me explain....

Our family loves taking walks, especially in the evening when all the kids are out. A few days ago, two neighbor boys were out in their Power Wheels Jeep. Bailey about broke her neck keeping track of the boys, their whereabouts, and the whereabouts of the cool "kachow car." After some discussion, and one look at our little girls face, we went to Toys R Us and bought our own. Don't judge us.... just look at her face. Wouldn't you have done the same thing?

P.S. Much thanks to cousins Blake and Tate for helping Bailey out. Everything is better when you two are around!

Happy Halloween!

I would like to first apologize to my vast audience for my lack of posts.... We've been busy with the move, Brock's surgery and little Morgan's impending arrival. Good news is, my blog can't get any worse then it was.... at least that's my goal.

Bailey had her first trick-or-treating experience yesterday, and all things considered, it went pretty well. We hit a few houses in our neighborhood and then went back to our house to pass out candy. We caught some priceless moments on camera....

Bailey realizing she gets candy at every door!!

Cheerleading costume $30
Decorative pumpkins for the yard $40
"Wicked" cool costume for mom $30
Taking 17 pictures and ending up with this as our "best" shot: Priceless.....

We think trick-or-treating will get better each year... We have no such hope regarding our photography skills.....Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!!
